Founded in 1956, Changsha University of Science & Technology (CUST) is an engineering-centered multidisciplinary university integrating engineering, science, management, economics, liberal arts and law, with strong disciplinary advantages and prominent features in the industries of communications, electric power and water conservancy. The university is jointly established by the Central Government and Hunan Provincial Government, mainly under the administration of Hunan Province.

The university is accredited to enroll international students and students from Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan, and has established cooperation and exchange programs with scores of universities and scientific institutes from the USA, UK, France, Russia, Canada, South Korea, Japan and Australia. The university jointly train students of national defense with the Air Force of the People’s Liberation Army of China.
